Revive Us Again
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit” (Psalm 51:10-12 ESV).
I love this verse and love singing this as a song in worship from time to time. These verses are significant in two areas, repentance and creation. The verb translated create is the same one used in Genesis 1:1 and refers to what only God can do. David was asking that his heart be renewed, restored, and transformed. God is the only source of such a renewal.
At times I believe we as Christians get settled into the rhythm of living a Christ-like life by doing what we know is right, going to church, tithing, praying, and reading our Bibles. All of this is great and awesome, but for some, we start to lose that joy. Do you remember the day you asked Jesus to become the Lord of your life? Do you remember how exciting that was? Do you remember the “JOY” you had and the excitement of telling others about the decision you made? I do. Maybe like David, you want to ask the Lord to renew and restore a right spirit within you.
I think of verse four from the hymn, “Revive Us Again,” Revive us again, fill each heart with Thy love, may each soul be rekindled with fire from above. Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.
Our music ministry is still thriving and pressing on the upward way! I hope you enjoyed our “All Generations Day” a few weeks ago. It is such a joy to see our church displayed on the platform. I want to say thank you to all the parents for allowing their children to participate on that special day!
I’d love to personally invite you to be a part of our music ministry. There are opportunities for you in both of our services! Reach out to me or to the Music Ministry office for more details!
