Do you believe in divine appointments?

By David Eldridge, Volunteer Interviewer at The Ministry Center

Life often feels overwhelming, but Pastor Eric’s recent focus on slowing down and noticing what God is doing around us is a reminder that God has a plan for each of us. If we listen to the Holy Spirit, we’ll recognize these moments, and they can change lives.

For over 40 years, The Ministry Center (TMC) has been a beacon of hope in West Tulsa, offering essential resources, Christian guidance, a listening ear, and most importantly, prayer. We believe everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential and experience the life-changing hope found in Jesus Christ.

I’ve had the privilege of being involved in the interview process at TMC. One Tuesday, I was asked to cover extra duties since several volunteers were out of town. With the end of the month approaching and the center closed the previous week due to severe weather, we anticipated a busy day.

That morning, a new client, Tabatha, came in with a heavy heart. Her mother had brought her in for food and clothing assistance. During the intake process, I asked her, “If you were to die today, do you know where your soul would go?” Tabatha looked at me with sad eyes and replied, “Oh, I hope I go to heaven, but I really don’t know.”

I asked if she wanted to know for sure, and she said yes. I shared the Gospel with her, explaining that Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died as a sacrifice for our sins. Salvation, I told her, is by faith, not works. I read Romans 10:9: “If you declare with your mouth that, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Tabatha tearfully accepted Christ as her Savior, and we prayed together. I gave her a Bible and a study guide to help her on her journey.

While Tabatha went to shop for food and clothing, her mother, still in the waiting area, shared how she had prayed for her daughter’s salvation for years. Little did she know, her daughter was accepting Christ in the room next door. The mother broke down in tears, thanking God for answering her prayers.

Thank God for this divine appointment. Are you ready for yours?
