Welcome to the Family

By Debbie Steen

In 1970, well known Gospel songwriters, Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the song The Family of God. Sing the chorus with me.

I’m so glad I’m a part of the Family of God,

I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood! Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, for I’m part of the family,

The Family of God.

I am thankful and grateful for our church family. I love that we are family! Jeff and I have amazing brothers and sisters in Christ that we are on the journey of life with. Have you found your home and family at South Tulsa Baptist? I pray you attend a small group Bible study as well as one of our Sunday services. If you haven’t found a group, please keep trying and asking for suggestions. Forming lasting, life-long, relationships take time and effort. May Psalms 133:1 be true of us – “How truly wonderful and delightful it is to see brothers and sisters living together in sweet unity!”

A huge way to connect with others is by finding areas of like-minded service. All of us have been blessed with talents that bring such joy when used for God’s glory. I happen to love being with children. As long as I can sit “crisscross applesauce” you will find me in preschool. Jeff serves best when with adults or using a chainsaw. What would you like to do? Teach, sub, welcome, drive, cook, decorate, host, visit, sing, help with media, missions...and the list goes on and on.

Next Sunday you will be given the opportunity to check-out more than twenty booths with information about ways to get involved and serve. Please be praying about our Faith with Actions event and how you will respond. You are wanted and needed as part of this family.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another” Hebrews 10:24-25
