God is in the Details

Have you ever used the phrase, “that’s a God thing” when something happens that goes far beyond coincidence, something that could only have been orchestrated by the hand of God? I just experienced one of those moments.

Several weeks ago, a piece of a brace that my granddaughter wears to help her walk was lost. Initially, we searched for days in our home and vehicles. This particular piece isn’t really necessary. It just helps to make the brace more comfortable. I had honestly given up on looking for it, and considered it permanently gone.

Fast forward to last Sunday. I was substituting in one of the preschool classrooms when a toddler walked up to me and handed me the lost piece. She knew nothing about what it was, or where it had come from. To her, it was just something she found among the toys that she thought was interesting and wanted to share with me. Definitely a God thing.

In the Bible we read many accounts of life-changing miracles: diseases healed, battles won against all odds, the dead raised. God’s power is limitless, and He is able to do amazing things.
we also need to remember that God’s love for us is also limitless, and He cares about even the smallest detail of our lives. There is nothing about us that He does not know or care about. In Psalm 139 we read that God knows when we sit and rise, and every thought that we have. Matthew 10:30 tells us He knows the number of hairs on our head.

Lately some big prayers I have been praying have been going unanswered, at least as far as I can see. But if God cared enough to work out the details to bring a small amount of comfort to my granddaughter, I can be certain that He cares about and is orchestrating the big things, even though I can’t see it.

I am reminded of lyrics from one of my favorite songs that come from Matthew 10:29. “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.” Rest assured that He is watching over you too!
