A Faithful Legacy, A Hopeful Future
Today is Legacy Sunday—a time to reflect on the incredible history of South Tulsa Baptist Church, to seek the Lord together in the present, and to look to the Lord as we consider our future.
As we’ll read today in Psalm 150, Scripture calls us to: Praise the Lord for His acts of power; and praise Him for his surpassing greatness! It’s always a blessing to gather for worship and praise the Lord together. TODAY, however, is a special day in the life of our church for many reasons.
First, today is a day to give thanks. From South Tulsa’s first days in the late 1970s until now, God has always provided for our every need and given us countless opportunities to be part of His Kingdom work in our community and around the world.
Second, today is a day to remember. Though the Lord has blessed South Tulsa with a wonderful campus and many resources, the most beautiful thing about our church is the people who belong to our Lord Jesus Christ. From our charter members to our newest and youngest church family, today we remember many faithful people and the many ways God has used them to encourage and bless us.
Third, today is a day to think about the present. The Lord has placed each of us here and now for this time in history and in our lives. Our church has the opportunity to impact people from many different generations and walks of life, and we are called to be faithful in our moment just as those who have gone before us.
Fourth, today is a day to affirm our unity and oneness in Christ. Jesus said the world would know we are His disciples “if we love one another” (John 16:33). May our families, our community, and the world see the genuine love of God displayed in us, His Church!
Fifth, today is a day to commit joyfully to seek the Lord’s wisdom and leadership for our church’s future. It truly is a blessing to be part of the rich Legacy of South Tulsa Baptist Church, and we pray our best days are yet to come!
