Welcome Mark Dance and Pray for Oklahoma Baptists
This morning we are blessed to have my friend Mark Dance preaching in both services. Mark serves as the Director of Pastoral Development and Regional Ministry Partner for churches in Tulsa for Oklahoma Baptists.
I have been incredibly thankful for the new directions our Oklahoma Baptists (formerly Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma) have taken in the last few years under the leadership of Hance Dilbeck. Oklahoma Baptists leadership is no longer concentrated in mostly one building, but rather has been spread out over the state with excellent people like Mark Dance. In addition, millions of dollars have been shifted away from internal programs to be used for cooperative gifts to the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board.
There has also been a renewed and increased investment into our most effective Oklahoma organizations reaching students and families such as Oklahoma Baptist University, Falls Creek, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, and Hope Pregnancy Centers. Hance and his leadership team also have a passion for our smaller churches, Native American churches, and international churches. This is a great time to be an Oklahoma Baptist because of our sharpened Kingdom focus.
As with most organizations, Oklahoma Baptists and our churches have been affected significantly by COVID-19 and the current economic downturn. As we know, South Tulsa Baptist Church has continued to thrive during this time. Unfortunately, that has not been true for many churches and denominational partners.
As Mark is with us today, would you commit with me to pray daily for our Oklahoma Baptist churches, leadership, and mission partnerships? Would you pray also for God to provide generous giving through His people so that the churches in our state, like our church, will be healthier and more effective than ever as we navigate and emerge from these difficult times together.
