The Intentional Pursuit of God

Matt Wolff

The week of Falls Creek is upon us! With this week, comes expectations and anticipation of the movement of God like no other week throughout the year. The question may be, why? Why does God move so powerfully during this week? The answer, I think, lies in our intentional pursuit of God. We seem to live such busy lives these days. And within the crazy flurry that our lives have become there is an emptiness that lingers. Whether we like to admit it or not, often times God becomes part of our checklist. Sometimes, we are only available to Him for a short time – if our schedule allows it. Falls Creek has always been a week of intentional focus on the Lord. We get to carve out a block of time to pursue the living God! More worship, Bible study, and personal prayer goes into the one week of camp than most of us experience in months of our lives.

Jeremiah 29:13 becomes a reality to many individuals at camp, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” My prayer for us all is to constantly reexamine the priorities of life. Where have you placed God? How important is your relationship with Him?

My wife’s love language is quality time. Quality time does not mean simply sitting in the same room with her watching a movie. She desires interaction with me. She wants dialogue and conversation. In that simple demonstration, I express my love for her more than anything else I can do. It has become clear to me throughout my life that Christ desires the same from us. He doesn’t want us to simply “be in the room.” God wants us to experience true quality time with each one of us. That quality time reignites our love and passion for Him. When we are reminded of His love for us and His connection in expressing His loving purpose for us, it’s life changing!

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! Psalm 34:8.

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog
(well, almost...HaHa!) Great job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented
it. Too cool!
