Winter Gathering | February 24

Find your chili recipe and join your South Tulsa church family for our Winter Gathering on Sunday, February 24 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. We will meet in the gym and enjoy a chili cook-off and potato bar, and we are asking each family (not bringing chili) to bring a salad or dessert to share. To participate in the Chili Cook-Off REGISTER by February 17 and please bring your chili to the Atrium by 4:30 p.m. for judging! Chili Cook-Off winners will be announced later in the evening. Bingo and other games will be played by all. Childcare available for children age three and younger. Everyone is invited!

Please RSVP so we know how many to plan for and optionally register your chili cook-off entry.

On Sunday morning February 24, our church family will all worship together at 10:50 a.m. after Bible Study for all ages at 9:40 a.m. (there will be NO 8:30 a.m. service).

The observation of Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent has solid roots in the history of Church and worship practices. The word “Lenten” means “lengthen,” and the purpose of the season is repentance and a 40-day fast or spiritual focus in preparation for Easter weekend. Each year more Protestant and Evangelical churches are emphasizing these liturgical roots and traditions.

We will observe Ash Wednesday (March 6, 2019) with three different service times – 11:00 a.m., Noon, and 6:30 p.m. in our Chapel. These services are open to anyone in our church or community. A simple Ash Wednesday service usually lasts around 20 minutes – with 15 minutes for readings and music and five minutes for applying ashes in the shape of a cross on one’s forehead. The ashes come from Palm Sunday leaves from the year before.
