Faithful and Wise Servants

Eric Costanzo

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.” (Matthew 47-24:45)

In my time in ministry, I cannot think of any two people who exemplify these words of Jesus more than Philip and Mary Ann Stephens. Though their service in ministry began years before coming to our church, the heart and soul of their Kingdom investment has come here at South Tulsa. What a blessing and honor for all of us!

Their investment into the lives of countless children, students, and adults could never be quantified. They go far beyond music, and all to the glory of God. There are literally thousands of people all over the world who can trace their spiritual journey of discipleship in one way or another to include Philip and Mary Ann.

In 30 years of ministry in our church, the Stephens’ have seen a lot. They’ve served with several pastors, seen new buildings erected and older ones renovated. Through several seasons, Philip and Mary Ann have been a rock for this church as ministers. They’ve watched the church rejoice in victories and hold together during significant challenges. Their impact in the life and ministry of this church is second to none. Each pastor who has served alongside them would agree.

In these last four years as their pastor, I have been blessed personally through their diligence, excellence in all things, encouragement, and wisdom. They have also invested in my family. They have been a constant source of encouragement and friendship to Rebecca, and they have poured deeply into each of my children through singing, instruments, teaching, training, putting into service, and in countless other ways.

Join me today in celebrating this anniversary with Philip and Mary Ann and looking forward to more great days ahead!
