Christmas in July

Debbie Steen

As the outside temperatures climb past 100 degrees, thoughts of Christmas trees and ornaments may be far from your mind. Never fear, cooler temperatures and the holiday season will arrive before we know it.

Ornaments4Orphans invites us to celebrate “Christmas in July” and help support their mission of helping families and preventing orphans one ornament at a time. This wonderful organization practices fair trade principles to provide artisans with an opportunity to thrive and empower their families and communities for good. Ornaments4Orphans gives to causes that enrich the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, emphasizing education, family care and orphan prevention.

You will want to visit the Christmas display located near our Preschool Welcome Center. Not only will you discover beautiful handmade ornaments, but Maasai paper bead bracelets and necklaces, leather bookmarks and glass bead key chains. Perfect stocking stuffers.

Another opportunity at South Tulsa Baptist, where people are making a difference in the life of an orphan, is through designated donations to our Adoption Ministry account. Since 2014, we have been privileged to assist in helping four families with their desire to adopt. If you, or someone you know, feels the call to adopt, please contact me to discuss how South Tulsa Baptist can help. Adoption can be very expensive. Our church is assisting in making dreams become reality for young Christian couples. Donations to the designated account need to just be earmarked “adoption.”

Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas. Jesus should always be our reason.
